Giving A Hand at Pork Hill Farm

By Jo-el in News on April 24 2009

The day was beautiful and sunny.  We had our usual snack.  However, immediately after snack,

spring fever took ahold.  We trekked up to Water Village to see what was going on at the

Pork Hill Farm.  What we found were some volunteers doing some spring cleaning.  This seemed

like a great activity to join in.  So, rakes were found, and there was fun to be had!

Do you have an evening gown that you would like to donate?

Kingwood Youth Center starts to collect evening wear around this time of year.

Our members are in need of prom outfits, for the Senior Prom.  We are looking

for all sizes of evening wear and accessories.  Please only donate clean, gently worn items.

Are you interested in donating transportation or tickets to the prom?

We also have been able to send one couple every year to the prom as a result of previous

donations.  Your generosity will contribute to a lifetime of memories which otherwise may

not be possible.

For information, please call 569-5949.

We are appreciative of Trites Auto (www.gotrites.com) in Wolfeboro.

They have kindly donated the use of a van. This gives us a chance to do some local field trips.

We were lucky to have the opportunity to help out G.A.L.A. (www.galacommunity.org).

While we were waiting we had the chance to hang out at the Todaro Center at

Northwood Camp, in Tuftonboro.

The Kingswood Youth Center is back into the swing of things for the school year.  While the building is under construction, we are running some activities with our mentors, out of the high school.  We’ve been apple picking, out for ice cream and on a nature walk.  We are thrilled to be offering some events for our youth.

By Jo-el in Art Programs on May 22 2008

We are happy to announce that we recieved a beautiful artistic expression from our partner in the Global Art Project, recently.  It was handmade by participants in Germany.  Our members were very excited to see it displayed in our great room.  It will be on permanent display at the Kingswood Youth Center.

Global Art Project

By Jo-el in Art Programs on March 31 2008

Our members at the youth center are participating in a world-wide event called the Global Art Project.

The theme of the Global Art Project is for many countries and cultures to share their vision of peace and goodwill with the world.  This is a bi-annual event.  This is our second time involved with this very special event.  If you would like to know about the event you can go to:  http://www.globalartproject.org

The Mentors came up with our project concept, and many members participated in it’s creation.  The title of our masterpiece is “It takes all the pieces for peace”.  Our project was concieved with the idea of using recycled materials as much as possible.  We were able to recycle tissue paper rolls, newspaper, paper bags and magazines.

We just found out that we will be switching art pieces with a school in Germany!  We are very excited to see what they will be sending.  For 3 weeks in April, starting the 1st, our own project will be on display at the Wolfeboro Public Library, in the Young Adult section.  We will have our partner school’s project in May.  An update will be posted here, as soon as we have the project.
