Wilderness Within

The Wilderness Within is a 9-week course coinciding with the Kingswood Regional High School quarter.  It is a combination of Yoga philosophy, Native American Wisdom, meditation techniques and a Reiki level one certification.  This class is a lot of fun because students get to learn about themselves.  There is very little homework because the class is experiential; the learning is mostly through experience.

Success of this program can be measured in conjunction with the PBIS (positive behavior integration system) that is stressed throughout the local school system.  The Wilderness Within touches on anger management, discipline, judgment, compassion, fears and choices.  Buses are in place to transport students to and from the Kingswood Youth Center.

The goals are:  To improve social relationships, promote positive changes in behavior, initiate an increase in self awareness, stimulate the mind through creative and experiential activities, enable expressions of emotion, provide positive outlets for anger and aggressions.

Grading and evaluations are done by the end of each semester.

The Wilderness Within is a school board approved credit course that students register for through the school.  Students ride the bus to and from the Kingswood Youth Center to take the class.
